Below is tonymonatana’s foray into book writing..
An ex-journalist, struggling with his career and unable to make a name or enough money for himself, is on the run after having published a collection of grisly, real-life tales he heard about. Some were partly written by him after he listened to the accounts of men in public places, some were retrieved through journals from police records, and some were written, on request, by convicted criminals and those revisiting a bittersweet past memory. The details of the book have now caught the attention of some vested elements who do not wish for it to be published.
What is it about the stories that he is being pursued? Could it have something to do with one of his stories? Or more than one? Could it be the one involving a jinxed apartment in the middle of a busy street, or of a mysterious hotel of a once-famous but now sleepy town? The one where a film critic has a horrific escapade at a newly renovated theatre? The one of a school where an overly concerned teacher has a tryst with an unusually quiet child? Or the one involving two women whose bizarre fates are alike, too alike, for their own good …
The Morbid Journal(s) explores themes of revenge, retribution, and guilt, often blurring the line between the real and the imaginary, the worldly and the paranormal.
